Job Description

Chief Marketing Officer (CMO)

Multi-Unit Restaurant / Consumer Brand | Remote / Flexible Location

SHR Talent has been exclusively engaged to identify a Chief Marketing Officer for a growing, multi-unit restaurant and consumer brand.

This is a unique opportunity to step into a newly created C-suite position and take ownership of the marketing function from the ground up. There has never been a dedicated executive in this seat, giving the incoming CMO significant autonomy to build the strategy, establish the roadmap, and ultimately define what marketing looks like across the organization.

This is not a role for someone looking to inherit a large marketing department. The organization is looking for an experienced, hands-on marketing executive who can operate at the strategic level while still rolling up their sleeves and personally driving execution.

Why This Role?

This is an opportunity to build rather than maintain .

The CMO will have direct access to ownership and leadership, significant autonomy, and the ability to create a marketing strategy without navigating layers of existing infrastructure.

The organization already has resources supporting social media, graphic design, and branding, but the CMO will be the person responsible for bringing everything together— building the plan, determining the priorities, executing initiatives, measuring results, and connecting marketing activity directly to revenue.

For someone who wants to put their fingerprints on an entire marketing function, the runway is significant.

What You'll Own

  • Build and lead the organization's overall marketing strategy, roadmap, and annual marketing plan.
  • Establish the marketing infrastructure, processes, priorities, and KPIs for a newly created executive function.
  • Translate high-level strategy into actionable campaigns and personally drive execution.
  • Develop data-driven marketing initiatives designed to increase traffic, customer engagement, brand awareness, and sales.
  • Establish meaningful metrics to evaluate marketing effectiveness and demonstrate ROI.
  • Connect marketing activity and investment directly to measurable business and revenue outcomes.
  • Analyze customer, sales, campaign, and market data to determine where marketing resources should be deployed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve customer acquisition, retention, frequency, and overall brand engagement.
  • Coordinate and direct existing resources supporting social media, graphic design, and branding.
  • Manage outside partners and vendors as appropriate while maintaining ownership of the broader marketing strategy.
  • Develop initiatives that can be effectively deployed across a multi-location operating model.
  • Present marketing strategies, initiatives, results, and recommendations to executive leadership and operating partners.
  • Help introduce and roll out system-wide initiatives
  • Serve as the organization's senior marketing voice while operating with a high degree of independence and accountability.

What We're Looking For

  • Experienced marketing executive with the credibility and experience to operate at the CMO / executive leadership level .
  • Demonstrated ability to build a marketing function, strategy, or platform from the ground up .
  • Strong balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution.
  • Comfortable operating in a lean environment without a large internal marketing team.
  • Highly analytical and data-driven , with the ability to connect marketing initiatives to sales and financial performance.
  • Track record of developing and executing marketing programs that produce measurable business results.
  • Experience managing agencies, vendors, creative resources, and other external partners.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to communicate initiatives to owners, operators, and senior leadership.
  • Comfortable working autonomously with significant ownership over priorities and execution.
  • Multi-unit restaurant, hospitality, franchise, retail, consumer, or other distributed-location experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience navigating a franchise, operating-partner, or similar stakeholder model is highly valuable.
